Atom Girls Start Season
The Blyth-Brussels Atom girls team got their season started with an exhibition game on Sunday, October 18th in Blyth against the Mount Forest Rams.
With some new players and some returning after a year off from hockey, the game had a tentative start with neither team scoring in the first period. The team's first goal of the season came in the second period from Delayna Smith with the assist going to Samantha Kerr. Those two would each score again in the final minute of the second with an assist going to Sydney Michie.
Mount Forest got on the board early in the third period and would be the only goal surrendered in a good performance in net by Julia Beaven. Smith would complete her hat trick less than a minute later.
Final score was 4-1, and everyone played well in the opening victory of the season.
