Blyth Brussels Bantam Girls Play Strong Against Mitchell
Submitted By Patti Cronin on Wednesday, February 17, 2010
The Bantam girls had their second game of the provincial playoffs at home against Mitchell on Wednesday, February 17th and what a game it was. The girls kept us on the edge of our seats as our goalie, Justine Reid, was pummeled with shots early on in the game.

After a few minutes into the game the girls seemed to wake up and they started to play hard. Nicole Middegaal scored the first short-handed goal which got the girls all fired up and ready for more.  Mitchell came back to score, but before the second period was over Jordyn Sholdice popped one in the net to give Blyth a 2-1 lead.

In the third period both teams were playing hard.  With just over a minute left in the game Mitchell pulled their goalie and we also had a penalty.  We could hardly watch but we caught a break as Heidi Raynard got a break-away and landed it in the net to nail the victory for Blyth.  Justine Reid, our goalie, played amazing and deserves alot of credit for our 3-1 victory.  Great game girls, and coaches, and we look forward to some exciting games ahead.

Next home game is February 28th in Brussels vs. St. Marys at 5:30 PM.
